'Don't sing in the kitchen...' & Friends: Wed 5 August
Come see us at the goregous new Barge Bar, at Maltby Street Market on Ropewalk on Wednesday 5 August!
We are presenting our play Don't sing in the kitchen, or you'll marry an old man, or rather the begining of our play, for the first time to an audience. Plus we've invited a couple hugely talented people to join in on the fun and perform alongside us.
This will be the first in a series of curated performances around the topic of 'Food'. Food is nostalgic, food is home, food is comfort and food is adventure.
We are excited to be at Barge Bar, a bar witihin the architectural antiques and salavage shop of LASSCOs. The bar is names so beacause of the back bar, which has been salvaged from the old Barge Man pub at Custom House, King George V dock; and the bar top has been built by manager Alec and his team, from reclaimed timber. Plus it has a little barge hanging behind the bar. It's all gorgeous!
What better place to be performing an evening of food inspired work, than a beautiful space, in a market synonymous with excellent food.
Bar open: 5.30pm Performance starts: 7.30pm
Tickets here: £4.87 (including booking fee) or £5 on the door.
So come, drink, be merry, watch performance and eat the chicken curry that Safiah will cook for you...
Plus, it's Anna's birthday, so you have no excuse not to come and celebrate.
This event is also the kick off of our fundraising to further develop our show, and hopefully take it to Malaysia. Going to Malaysia with the show is a really exciting opportunity for us, firstly it will be taking work 'home' and secondly, we feel that it's important to root the show in Malaysia.
Home is a central theme of our play, and what is and where is home are the questions we throw around, this journey of performances in both London and Malaysia is part of that.
